Let’s face it dogs are curious at the least, but puppies even more so. Golden Retriever Puppies are little vacuums and love to mouth everything in their site. As a breeder we always like to encourage our new puppy families to learn this incredibly important lifesaving method.
Here is an example of an unprepared scenario.
Family gathering and lots of people in the house. The children are playing, running and lots of laughter. All of a sudden Rover isn’t acting normal. Rover is pawing at his mouth, not breathing or making any sound and his gums look kind of blue in color. You become panicked as you ask “what is going on, what do I do?” In the meantime, Rover isn’t getting that object dislodged from his throat and is slowly suffocating.
Here is an example of a prepared scenario.
Family gathering and lots of people in the house. The children are playing, running and lots of laughter. All of a sudden Rover isn’t acting normal. Rover is pawing at his mouth, not breathing or making any sound and his gums look kind of blue in color. You recognize the signs of a dog choking and immediately put into action the Heimlich Maneuver Method you learned today. While holding Rover and being hailed his hero, you see how you were able to be prepared and calmly save his life.
